Associate Project Manager with AI
Develop someone in your team who can take a project from idea to delivery: planning it properly, managing the risks and the budget, keeping stakeholders on side and proving the benefit at the end. AI tools are built into how they learn to work, so the admin gets lighter and the decisions get better.
Warehouse system upgrade
On trackFor the people already holding your projects together
Most organisations have someone who ends up running projects without ever being trained to. This apprenticeship gives them a proper method for leading a project from initiation to completion, managing resources, stakeholders, budgets and risks along the way.
It suits existing staff who are stepping into project work, as well as new hires brought in to support change. Learning is built around your organisation's live projects, so the work they do on the programme is work you need done anyway.

Plan with confidence
Scope, schedule, resources and budget set out clearly before work starts, with a business case that stands up to scrutiny.
Control what happens next
Risks, issues and changes tracked and dealt with, and progress reported in a way senior people can act on.
Prove the value
Projects closed properly, lessons captured and benefits measured, so you can see what the investment delivered.
Project management, with the admin taken off their plate
A lot of project time goes on writing up minutes, chasing updates and rebuilding the same reports. Alongside the core standard, your apprentice learns to use everyday AI tools to handle that work faster, while keeping the judgement where it belongs: with them.
Faster planning
Turning a brief into a first-draft scope, work breakdown and timeline, then checking and refining it rather than starting from a blank page.
Sharper risk thinking
Using AI to suggest risks and dependencies that might have been missed, then assessing and owning them through a proper risk log.
Clearer reporting
Producing status updates, meeting summaries and stakeholder messages quickly, written for the audience that will read them.
Responsible use runs through all of it: what not to put into an AI tool, how to check its output, and how to stay within your organisation's data protection and IT policies.
Twelve stages that follow a real project
The programme mirrors the life of a project, so your apprentice learns each stage at the point they need it on their own work.

How the apprenticeship is assessed
At the end of the programme an independent assessment organisation checks that your apprentice can do the job to the standard. We prepare them for it from the first month, not the last.
Project showcase report
A written account of a real project they have worked on in your organisation, showing how they applied what they learned.
Presentation with questions
They present the project to an independent assessor and answer questions about their decisions and results.
Professional discussion
A structured conversation with the assessor, underpinned by the portfolio of evidence built up during the programme.

What it costs your organisation
Government apprenticeship funding is available to businesses based in England. For many employers the course costs nothing, and the apprentice never pays.
We handle the funding paperwork for you, from eligibility checks through to the application.
| Your situation | What you pay |
|---|---|
| Levy-paying employer | Paid from your apprenticeship levy funds. If your levy balance runs short, the government co-invests and you pay a share of the remainder. |
| Non-levy, apprentice aged 16–24 | Usually fully funded, subject to eligibility. |
| Non-levy, apprentice aged 25+ | You pay 5% (£350) and the government funds the other 95%. |
Funding depends on eligibility and the rules in force when your apprentice starts. Check your funding position or read our funding guide, and we'll confirm exactly what applies to you.

Frequently asked questions
Does my employee need project management experience already?
No formal experience is needed, but they should be in a role where they will plan and deliver projects, or support someone who does. They need real project work to learn from and to use for the assessment.
Can we put existing staff on this apprenticeship?
Yes. Many employers use it to upskill people who already run projects informally. There is no upper age limit, as long as the apprenticeship teaches them substantial new skills.
How is the AI element different from the standard apprenticeship?
The qualification is the national Associate Project Manager Level 4 standard. NTG adds practical, responsible use of AI tools throughout the programme, so your apprentice learns to plan, report and manage risk more efficiently. It does not change the qualification or how it is assessed.
What will it cost us?
The course value is £7,000. Levy payers use their levy funds. Non-levy employers usually pay nothing for apprentices aged 16 to 24, and 5% (£350) for apprentices aged 25 and over. Use our funding checker or call us to confirm your position.
How much time will it take away from their job?
Apprentices spend part of their paid hours on off-the-job training. Because the learning is tied to your live projects, much of that time produces work your organisation needs, such as plans, risk logs and reports.
How is the apprenticeship assessed?
Through an independent end-point assessment made up of a project showcase report, a presentation with questions, and a professional discussion underpinned by a portfolio of evidence.
