OSI Electronics, UK is based in St Neots, Cambridgeshire. From design, prototype, and PCB assembly to volume box builds, we make electronic products for UK and overseas markets. JOB PURPOSE

The Apprentice will undertake varied work experience within our Quality Department. You will learn all the required skills to apply lean manufacturing methodology for your future career and by completing various work duties whilst undertaking and achieving the required qualification. The training scheme will provide a foundation to our products and customers, the purpose to how to prepare, control, contribute and complete manufacturing operations, manufacturing processes and standard operating procedures. Safe working policies, the 5Ss and continuous improvement and practices, including the Kaizen method, lean principles and problem solving.

 

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Learn quality tools such as Root Cause Analysis, 8D Reports, FMEAs, Risk Assessments, Lean, 5S, etc. as well as all the production processes within OSI.
  • Work closely with the Production Team to support quality issues both electrical and mechanical including short- and long-term resolution.
  • Help diagnose customer returns and support the RMA function.
  • Understand International Quality Standards and how they are applied to OSI.
  • Ensure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Determine and implement improvement projects.
  • Operate the Calibration System.
  • Carry out internal audits (includes attending external auditing courses).
  • Become an IPC Certified Specialist.
  • Uphold OSI’s core values of Integrity, Innovation, Accountability and Teamwork.

  • To study Lean Manufacturing Operative Level 2
  • Work ready
  • Interested in developing a career in manufacturing
  • Attention to detail ensuring excellent quality and accuracy.
  • Aptitude to understand the proper process.
  • Enjoy working collaboratively with others to establish effective and innovative solutions.  
  • Building good working relationships both internally and externally.
  • Capable of working independently.
  • Willingness to learn and succeed.

  • Positive & Proactive approach
  • Successful completion of OSI Electronics and OSI Corporate training (including training done at Company location).  

 

Duration: 12 Month Apprenticeship

Working hours: Monday to Thursday, 8.00am – 4.30pm with half hour lunch break and Friday 8.00am – 2.00pm no lunch break a total of 38 hours a week. 

 

Holidays: 25 Days per calendar holiday year plus bank/public holidays.

Pay £8.50 per hour, £16,796 per annum
