Apprenticeship Incentives for Employers

The government are looking to create three million apprenticeships by 2020 and they need businesses across the UK to get on board with their mission. There are some incentive schemes which are available to businesses as follows:

£1,000 apprenticeship incentive payment

For staff aged 16-18 or 19 – 24 with a care or health plan, the government will pay £1,000* per staff member that the employer choose to develop onto a qualification. This applies to levy and non levy employers and is not capped.
*The £1,000 payment is split into two equal payments when the apprentice is still in learning at 90 days and 365 days. NTG Training will arrange this for the employer.
Also, if you recruit a new apprentice aged 16-25 then the employer will not need to pay National Insurance on their wages/salary which is a 13.8% saving. NTG Training offer a complimentary apprenticeship recruitment service.
Extra support for small employers
The government will fund all of the apprenticeship training costs, up to the maximum value of the funding band for the apprenticeship, for employers employing fewer than 50 people (49 or less), if the apprentice is:
  • Aged between 16 & 18 years old
  • Aged between 19 & 24 and has either an education, health and care plan provided by the local authority.
