Who is this course for?

The Learning and Development Level 3 Certificate has been created for individuals that currently operate in a training role who want to develop their skills within the industry.

What does the course cover?

Upon completion of the course, learners will have a good working knowledge of:

  • The organisation in which you operate and the external factors which impact on it
  • How learning and development needs arise and why it is important to be aware of them
  • How to effectively design learning and development activities
  • The importance of evaluating and the different approaches that can be used
  • How diversity and inclusion influence the planning and delivery of L&D interventions

Course Duration

The duration of this apprenticeship is 12 months. Training will be delivered using a blend of online, webinar and practical sessions, and the apprentice will receive regular 1-1 sessions and support from their tutor.

Entry requirements

To be eligible for this course, you would ideally have at least 5 GCSE’s (grade A* to C/9 to 5) or equivalent. This must include Maths and English. You must also have be working in a role which involves the development and delivery of learning to either groups or individuals regularly.

UNDERSTANDING THE PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICES OF ASSESSMENT

This unit assesses the knowledge and understanding a learning and development practitioner requires to underpin their practice.

REFLECT ON AND IMPROVE OWN PRACTICE IN LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT

The aim of this unit is to assess the competence of a practitioner to reflect on, evaluate and improve their learning and development practice.

UNDERSTANDING THE EMPLOYING ORGANISATION

This unit covers the knowledge and understanding that employees require concerning:

The aims, objectives and structure of their organisation

The contribution they can make to the organisation’s objectives

Opportunities for professional and career development in the organisation

FACILITATE LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT IN GROUPS

The aim of this unit is to assess a learning and development practitioner’s understanding of group dynamics and facilitating learning and development in groups. Learners are required to understand the use of a variety of methods, for example, presentations, instructions, demonstrations, small-group activities, skills practice and feedback, e-learning, blended learning, role plays, simulations or experiential learning.

FACILITATE LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT FOR INDIVIDUALS

The aim of this unit is to assess a learning and development practitioner’s understanding of how to facilitate learning and development for individuals. The practitioner could be someone in a coaching or mentoring role. They are required to understand the use of a variety of methods.

FUNCTIONAL SKILLS

The learner will complete Functional Skills in Maths, English and ICT at Level 2 (GCSE Equivalent) if required

TYPICAL JOBS

The Learning and Development Level 3 Apprenticeship is designed for people working in an existing learning and development role where they facilitate training regularly at a junior or senior level.
