The Operations/Departmental Manager Apprenticeship has been designed for learners who currently manage teams and/or projects looking to develop their current role. They will typically be accountable to senior management however will manage and be responsible for their team and day to day operations. Roles may include: Operations Manager, Regional Manager, Divisional Manager, Department Manager and specialist managers.
Key responsibilities may include creating and delivering operational plans, managing projects, leading and managing teams, managing change, financial and resource management, talent management, coaching and mentoring.
Our Operations/Departmental Manager Apprenticeship lasts up to 18 months and is made up of 11 modules that will cover the totality of the standards. These will be delivered through online and physical visits throughout the first 15 months of the qualification. During the first 15 months of the course, learners will develop a portfolio of their best work and complete 5 large projects as evidence for the qualification.
What Does the Apprenticeship Cover?
During this course, learners will complete training and activities to cover the 11 modules below. These are completed through workbooks, practical sessions, observations and 5 large projects. These will be completed at key stages throughout the course. They have been designed to meet the Operations/Departmental Manager standard as well as the HABC Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management (RQF).

What Qualifications will you get?
This course is designed with you in mind. We work with you to develop your employees and deliver up to date and relevant skills to enable them to support and manage large teams, departments and projects throughout your company efficiently and effectively. Learners will get:
- Operations/Departmental Manager Level 5 Standard
- HABC Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management
End Point Assessment
After 12 months the learner will have completed all modules within the course, completed all five projects and developed their portfolio. They will then be ready to progress onto EPA (End Point Assessment). This Includes:
The evidence contained in the portfolio will comprise of complete and/or discrete pieces of work that cover the totality of the Standard.
Knowledge Test using Scenarios and Questions
A series of different scenarios and situations will be used, with a series of questions requiring responses which will demonstrate the apprentices knowledge of that particular topic.
Structured Competency Based Interview
The knowledge requirements within the Standard will be tested using a structured series of questions to assess the apprentice’s knowledge to ensure all aspects are given coverage.
Professional Discussion relating to CPD activity
The apprentice will provide evidence of any additional learning/CPD undertaken during the apprenticeship, which will include:
- Activity undertaken during the Level 5 Diploma or learning activity
- Details of any formal or informal learning undertaken
- Details of any professional discussions undertaken or support provided through Professional Bodies
Presentation on Work Based Activity with Q&A Session
The Work Based Project is one that represents the skills, knowledge and behaviours in the Standard. It provides a substantive evidence base from a business related project to demonstrate the application of skills and knowledge
This Qualification is Government Funded and falls under the new Apprenticeship Levy Scheme. Our Team Leader/Supervisor Qualification requires a 10% employer contribution. Total costs of training is £9,000 The employer is required to fund 10% of this equating to £900

Businesses who have less than 50 employees won’t pay anything if they employ apprentices under the age of 19, and will receive a £1,000 payment.
